1. To the creator of this Rizzles video

    Rizzoli & Isles {Jane & Maura} Alternate Universe |AU|

If you have a Tumblr, please contact me (it’s possible I already follow you, I don’t know!).

I would like to turn your video into a AU fanfic (unless someone’s already beat me to the punch), but I feel as if I shouldn’t do so without your permission.

  2. Why does nobody seem to be excited that R&I season 3 comes out on DVD in 2 days?

  3. A long anonymous ask and my very long response.

    image

You make some points I’d like to address.
    1) I’m not too big on gray-faced opinions. Like with my hateful/demeaning reviews on that one Rizzles fanfic story I have. Put a name to your viewpoint.

    2) Your “completely different” viewpoint is absolutely fine. But I think we can all agree at this point, the show’s not a whole friggin’ lot like the books anymore (based on everything else I’ve heard). Sure, the major characters and several plots are, but we’re so far off point here that comparing the two is basically useless. However, it’s nice to have both sides to help form your views. (But wait, isn’t it Jane and Dean who get married and have kids in the book anyway? So this is totally useless to discuss, I think.)

    3) I’m not spitting on Jane and Casey because that whole weird beard situation is getting in the way of Maura/Jane. I have personally accepted that too much cowardice is involved on so many levels in the making of this show that it’s just not endgame. *I* am spitting on Jane and Casey because their relationship (not even necessarily the romantic side) is just beyond unhealthy. I mean, do I even need to point out the reasons why??

    4) I’m not trying to defend Maura. If you think I am, you’re missing my main point. If anything, I’m actually not being very nice at all toward Maura. I’m actually surprised people haven’t gotten mad at me for saying something negative about her.

    5) We can at least so far agree that Casey is not good for Jane (and Jane is not good for Casey, either, imho).

    6) We can also agree that everyone has a moment of weakness where they love a person that isn’t good for them. I can think of one major person in my life in which this situation is horribly and embarrassingly accurate. Oh well.

    7) Maura and Jane seem to have had their own bad moments where they do not treat each other very well, and perhaps you’re right that people jump more on Jane than Maura. You’re also right that it wasn’t the point I was making. Trust me, I can jump on either one of them equally as roughly as people get mad at Jane, but the way I see it, most people don’t really care to know what I think. I’m not really a “popular” Rizzles blog, so it’s not like people are scrambling over themselves to see what I think about everything regarding this show. But sometimes, I have thoughts I’d like to widely share.

    8) You write Rizzles?

    9) Sweet, we can agree on another point because I don’t think Casey is the only man who’ll get in the way of Rizzles becoming canon either. I think there will be several more beards. And ya know what? Maybe even a female love interest for Maura, since Sasha just seems like she needs a little lady lovin’ in the worst (best, hehe) kind of way. But considering my point in #3….well, yeah.

    10) I don’t think it really matters here that the books came before the show. So many things are different between them (i.e. Maura, if I remember correctly from what I’ve read around online, seems like she’s supposed to be more like Abby in NCIS than she is a fashionista, Google-mouthed genius). It seems to me like Tess has allowed Janet so many liberties at this point, she might as well just let Janet run them into the ground…oh wait……

    11) I hate the way both of them act when male suitors are around, period. I hate how they interact with them in general, the way it changes how they interact with each other, everything. If Jane and Maura were in high school or college, or hell even their mid to late 20’s, I’d be a little more forgiving because I think women just act differently with potential and established romantic interests below a certain age and maturity level. But they are both in the mid to late 30’s, with VERY established,   reputable careers. They’re supposedly the crème de la crème. And JTam should know this. Why, however, does she not seem to realise what she’s doing to these characters?

******not all of my responses should be taken in an asshole-y, sarcastic way…for the record. But one can’t really understand that via computer-mediated communication because of the lack of nonverbal cues for guidance…******

  4. Shame

I have no doubt that once upon a time, Maura truly was in love with Ian.

But remember how Jane was upset because suddenly he just showed up and she was like, wtf Maura? I don’t know about this beard…

Maura physically cannot lie without adverse effects, but when you just decide not to talk about something, that’s not really lying. And if nobody asks, you never have to talk about it.

Personally I don’t think Maura told Jane about Ian because she was ashamed. She was ashamed because she let Ian come and go as it was convenient for him. She let him use her. She let him show up whenever he wanted.

Maura is a strong, independent, brilliant woman who let a man manipulate her, and Maura letting someone, especially a man, continuously treat her this way would have pissed off Jane beyond belief.

And then it’s ironic that Jane ended up letting Casey do the same thing to her.

This is why JTam’s writing pisses me off. Both Jane and Maura are strong, independent, brilliant women, who in 99% of situations, would never allow someone to manipulate them this way.

But throw in the whole “But I love him” aspect, and suddenly all bets are off?

    NO. Fuck that.

Honestly, JTam should be ashamed of herself for writing such filth.

  5. Category: Rizzoli & Isles
    Character: J. Rizzoli, M. Isles

    Words: 1,480
    Genre: Angst/Hurt/Comfort
    Rating: Rated: M

[“Every time she thought she’d found the courage, that the day had been
horrible enough to let go completely, she only thought of one thing. Maura.]
Dark(er), angsty one-shot that needed to come out of my brain. Trigger warning (suicidal thoughts/tendencies), just to be safe. This is so outside of my normal R&I stuff - please be kind and constructive if you review!

  6. “Dr. Faulkner just came by for some tea.”

    Jane: “Wanna grab some coffee?”
Maura: “No, I’ve already had some tea.”

These lines kill me every time.
    Good job, JTam.
5000 points for those TLW references right there.

  7. In 2x02, Jane says she hopes Maura gets hives after Maura says she always saw Jane as the maternal type, but she was actually lying.

imho, Jane was offended by Maura’s insinuation that she might not be a good (nurturing) mother.

that means part of Jane very much thinks about becoming a mother (some day), even though she repeatedly insists that she’s never having kids.

    great continuity there, jtam.
to borrow a line from givemerizzlesorgivemedeath: A+++

  8. Funny how when a beard walks out, Maura always walks in.

  9. AHHHHHHHH okay. Top 10 favorite TV characters

I hate you people for wanting to know. lol I don’t have time for a why right now, just who.

    In no particular order:
    Paris Geller
    Rory Gilmore
    Lorelai Gilmore
    Maura Isles
    Bette Porter
    Gillian Foster
    Cal Lightman
    Alice Pieszecki
    Barney Stinson
    Kenzi

Honorable mentions that sometimes shift into the top 10, depending on my mood:
    Jane Rizzoli
    Piper Halliwell
    Tina Kennard
    Lily Aldrin

  10. So we’ve seen GIFs of unwanted advances on Maura (Giovanni, Pike)…

Anybody want to juxtapose those with similar behavior from Jane and Maura’s completely different reactions??

Or is that a dumb idea?

  11. I’m always amused when people say a fanfic’s Jane and/or Maura is/are out of character.

We’re watching the same show, right?
Remember JTam’s gigantic lack of continuity??
The TV Jane and Maura we know pretty much seem to have multiple personalities.
Therefore, fanfic Jane and Maura can actually do just about anything.
Think about that next time you’re reading or writing a story.

  12. I’m gonna need all you ridiculously freaking talented painters, and drawers, and GIF-makers, and fanfic writers to STOP.

    1) You’re giving me Rizzles ~feels~ and I can’t handle them.
    2) You make me feel horrible for contributing basically nothing to this fandom!

    ps - I love you.
    pps - but dammit seriously.
